There are many things in life with varying degrees of importance. There are some things that are very essential, and then there are things that not so essential. But if we look into what the bible says, Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). This scripture is significant because it affects our perspective about places, things, and our heart.
So if we start exploring the answer to the question, what and where are my treasures? Then, we would also see and know the answer to the next question, what is my heart focused on? And, if we truly want to please God or to glorify God, then we would focus our heart on God and where God is. That is, ultimately, we would treasure God and lay our treasures in Heaven.
To have things in life is not evil, but the things that we have should not have our hearts. If we choose to honor God with our lives, then the things that we have will be used as tools to honor God as well. What is really important in life is to treasure God in our hearts, and to honor God with all the things that we have.
