The virtues and the character portrayed by a person’s life are important. They are important because they help to reflect who the real person is from the inside. In essence, they are the fruits of the person’s inner being.
The bible tells us that, “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering or patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23). And, it is important to note that these good fruits or divine fruits are not natural, but they are spiritual, and that they can only be acquired from having a relationship with God.
A person may attempt to be good on their own or to generate the good fruits listed above on their own, but the truth is that, it is plainly impossible to do so without a relationship with God. However, as noted by the Lord Jesus Christ in the bible, “with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
Good news! With God’s help, people can change their nature for the better, people can grow and improve their virtues and their character for the best! Yes, with God’s help, a person can make a total turn around for good! A person can become more loving, more joyful, more peaceful, more patient, more kind, more blessed, more faithful, and more self-disciplined. And these virtues are valuable because they help to form the unique character of the person.
It is good to note that people usually see what is on the outside of a person, but God is able to see much more than that, because God can see the person’s heart, mind, virtues, and the character, plus more! God sees it all! God sees and knows everything about each person. Therefore, all people are completely open before God and nothing is hidden before Him.
So, if we truly consider the circumstances and the beauty of life, then we are amazed by God! Indeed, we can see that the virtues and the character of a person do affect the quality of life, credibility, and the reputation held by that person, and that the greatest honor is to be honored by God (see Psalm 91:14-16 and 2 Peter 1:2-11). Therefore, to live your best life possible, live your best life with God, and live inspired!
